The continues development and commitment to this popular ERP solution by Microsoft has resulted in the latest release of Microsoft Dynamics NAV: version 2015. It is now available and offers impressive new capabilities to help SMEs to grow their business in a ‘mobile first, cloud first’ world. Here are 10 of the best new features and functionality NAV 2015 has to offer.

1. NAV for tablets
With the release of NAV 2015, new NAV tablet applications are available from the Windows Store, App Store or Google Play. NAV for tablets allows users in SMEs to get access to the data they need from the device they prefer. With a modern interface designed exclusively for touch, it provides the known Role Tailored experience in such a way that users can get their work done at home, at work or even on the go.

2. Optimized display of key business data
Colour is the perfect way to get someone’s attention. When your system makes you aware of issues or successes, it drives action. Personalized home pages allow users easy access to the most important business data and KPIs with enhanced cues. At a glance, colour coding and live data allow users to prioritize efforts.

3. Better visualization of your KPIs
Business Intelligence (BI) is of great importance to business leaders. With NAV 2015 you get the Power BI tools to tap into the full potential of big data insights collected through critical business processes. Power BI extends the capabilities of Microsoft Excel allowing you to analyze and visualize your data using Excel. Thanks to enhanced BI dashboards you get better visualization of your KPIs.

4. Totals on the document pages
Quotes, sales orders, purchase orders and more can now have the totals displayed at the bottom instead of using the Statistics window.

5. Documents can be formatted with Word Document Templates
With NAV 2015, users can now customize and create their own document reports in Microsoft Word. Along with the Word add-in, the solution comes with a set of predefined templates that users can either use or modify. Modified templates can be easily imported into NAV 2015 for immediate use.

6. Scheduling reports
A new feature in NAV 2015 allows the end user to schedule any report to run and appear in a new section of the Role Center, called Report Inbox. The output of the report can be a PDF, Word or Excel document for printing or a processing only report.

7. Quicker cash collection
A Bank Data Conversion Service on Microsoft Azure enables automatic processes for electronic payments, payment reconciliation and bank account reconciliation right in Microsoft Dynamics NAV. Take your statements from inside NAV and export payments to your bank.

8. Mandatory fields for greater productivity
By designating certain fields as mandatory (shown in red), data entry is easier and faster. It allows users to know exactly which fields require input.

9. Simplified User Interface
To simplify the users’ experience in NAV 2015, the UI Elements Removal feature has been introduced. This new feature can be used to remove user interface elements from pages in NAV, such as fields and actions. The Role Center and pages become easier to look at and  to navigate.

10. Social insights
Your customers and stakeholders are talking about you on Facebook, Twitter or blogs. By using Microsoft Social Listening, you get powerful social insights. Social Listening collects data from social media and presents it to you in easy-to-consume charts and graphs that you can use to spot emerging trends in people’s comments. You can drill down into the data and see who is mentioning you, what they said en where they posted the comment. Armed with these insights, you can pinpoint what you’re doing right, and address potential issues before bigger problems arise.
